Susie Fowler: Blog

So many people came out to enjoy this splendid spring and take photos of the glorious flowers.  We saw 5 great herons fly over the river, all together.  I see individuals herons frequently, but don't remember seeing so many flying together.
Next weekend is the Art and Wine Trail so I have a kiln to unload and pieces to label and price.  And on Saturday from 2 - 5 I'll have the Austin Community Steel Band here to play during the Art Trail.  It's Free and I encourage you to bring your children to listen to the music.

Big Bend - Beautiful!

Posted on March 29, 2010
Just back from Big Bend where I had to constantly refrain from collecting the specimens there.
So many IMPRESSIONS in the rocks, the embedded shells, and ohhhhhhhh those resurection ferns.  There were cactus blooms just opening for spring and the Ocatilla was changing from berries to scarlet flowers floating to the ground in 45 mile per hour winds.  Nature -  truly amazing.  I took lots of photos, left lots of footprints.

Tiny Yellow flowers scatter the native grasses and I noticed 3 yellow daffodils by the walkway.  The live oak leaves have yellowed and are waiting to drop, announcing spring's arrival.  I'm building my show for this summer, at the Ladybird Wildflower Center's McDermott Learning Center.  This spring has great promise from the winter rains.  Wildflowers will be decorating my place for the upcoming Music in the Gallery with Joel Guzman, Sarah Fox and Andrew Hardin.  It's Sunday, March 21 from 2 - 5pm.  BYOB and potluck appetizer to share.  Reserved Seats / Tickets $20 / Call 512/264-9923 for reservations.  Best, Susie

Busy Hands at Work

Posted on February 8, 2010
I've just begun a new website builder. It's exciting to launch a new site. I'm looking forward to sharing photos of my work, the land under my feet and my thoughts about life here on the cliff above the Pedernales River. Hope you'll join me from time to time.
